Diesel Engine Repair

Diesel Engine Repair Description

Diesel engines are workhouses. They are designed to be reliable and durable. Using compression to ignite fuel rather than combustion, they can provide greater power than an internal combustion engine. With an internal combustion engine, air and fuel are mixed before a spark plug ignites it. A diesel engine provides three times the compression an internal combustion engine can. Because operate with greater compression, it generates far more heat. Diesel engines operate without spark plugs. Rather they use what are called glow plugs in colder environments. They provide two separate heating elements that help diesel engines start faster as the temperature drops. Turbochargers are also employed to increase compression further by increasing the amount of air moving through the engine. When there is more air flowing, the engine can burn more fuel. Diesel engines operate far more efficiently when turbochargers are employed. This means lower operating costs. It also means more efficient operation which translates to higher miles per gallon.

Diesel Engine Repair Benefits

Maintenance is the key to extending the left of any mechanical device. This has never been more evident than with diesel engines. It is important to recognize this and pay attention to the way the diesel engine is operating so repairs and maintenance can be performed before catastrophic failure. While diesel engines tend to generate more noise than internal combustion engines, it is still possible to diagnose problems by the noise created. There are other signs as well. If a diesel engine is not operating at the proper RPMs when idling or if it is overly difficult to start, it can be a sign of improper fuel pressure. This can also be an indication of fuel quality or low fuel supply. We are able to perform maintenance to extend the life of your diesel engine.

Every diesel engine comes with manufacturer recommended timelines for each scheduled maintenance and replacement schedule. By following those recommendations, it will keep your diesel engine operating at optimal efficiency. This means addressing issues with fuel injectors, glow plugs, and turbochargers before they fail. Keeping all components in working order will increase the lifespan of your diesel engine.
