Wheel Alignment

Wheel Alignment Description

Wheel alignment is important for proper vehicle function. The alignment process adjusts each wheel of the vehicle so they are in a position parallel to each other while staying perpendicular to the surface of the road. There are three angles which need to be adjusted to ensure the wheels are aligned. They are caster, toe, and camber. Camber is the measurement of the offset angle degree from the perpendicular state of the road. Caster is known as the angle of the wheel’s pivot. When this angle is off, it can affect straight-line driving. Toe is the difference between the tire and the vehicle centerline. Both the rear and front wheels need to be parallel to each other for proper vehicle operation. It is important to have routine alignments performed to extend tire life and improve vehicle safety.

Wheel Alignment Benefits

Offering improved gas mileage, safe operation, and a reduction in tire wear, alignments can help improve the efficiency of your vehicle. When tires are not aligned properly, it can promote uneven treat wear. This can be felt when a vehicle is drawn to one side or the other during normal operation. If left untreated, the alignment issues can cause problems with both suspension and steering system by putting undo stress on the various components of each system. If vibrations are felt during operation at high speeds, it can also be an indication that wheels are out of alignment.
